How to prepare Yam Pottage By chef AY
Yam Porridge (Asaro) which is also known as Yam pottage or Yam porridge is a very delicious Yam recipe though it’s eaten by most tribes in Nigeria but it’s more common in the Yoruba speaking parts of Nigeria.
Recipe needed
1/2 yam medium sized
1 Onion medium sized (diced)
1.5 starter sauce a blend of pepper, tomatoes and onions
1/2 cup of fresh Palm oil
2 table spoon of crayfish
Water
Parsley or any leafy vegetables
Crab meat.
INSTRUCTIONS
Peel and cut the yam into medium sized chunk and rinse several times
Put the yam into the pot and add water to the level of the yam and let it boil for about 15minutes on high heat
Add the starter sauce ( Palm oil, onions, crayfish,salts,stock cubes , pepper, and allow it cook for another 15 minutes on a low heat
Add the crab meat (you can use whatever addition you like such as smoked fish, prawns and smoked turkey)
Mash the yam with potato masher or a wooden spoon( you can mash everything into creamy paste)
Enjoy while it's hot
